Shubhanshu’s ISS Mission Paves Way for Gaganyaan
National News: Indian Air Force officer Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has returned to Earth safely after completing an important mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS). He came back with his international crew on Tuesday.
This mission is a major achievement for India’s space program, as the country is now getting ready for the upcoming Gaganyaan human space mission. Shubhanshu's journey helped scientists at ISRO gather valuable experience for this future project.
Shubhanshu has become the first Indian to set foot on the ISS, marking a proud moment for the nation. The last Indian in space was Rakesh Sharma, who went into space 41 years ago.
During his stay at the space station, Shubhanshu completed seven scientific experiments. The data collected from these tests will help Indian scientists in planning and executing the Gaganyaan mission more effectively.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Shubhanshu back to Earth and appreciated his efforts. He said that Shubhanshu’s courage and hard work have inspired dreams across the nation. “This mission is a big step forward in India’s journey to send humans into space,” said the Prime Minister.
ISRO's Space Applications Centre Director Nilesh Desai said that this mission was a valuable opportunity for the Indian space team to understand life and work in space. “Shubhanshu carried out several experiments in space,” Desai said. “What we learned from this mission will help us prepare better for Gaganyaan.”
He added that ISRO will launch the first unmanned Gaganyaan flight later this year, followed by two more. After that, India will send a human crew into space, who will stay there for 2 to 7 days before returning.
With the success of this mission, India has moved one step closer to sending astronauts into space on its own. Shubhanshu’s journey has added new energy and experience to India’s space program, and the nation now looks forward to the next big leap with Mission Gaganyaan.
